Kanto Tactics Overview

Kanto Tactics is a Pokémon auto-battler where building a clever team matters more than having lightning-fast fingers. Created by indie developer José Luis (Einoow), this browser game lets you collect Pokémon, arrange your fighters, and watch them battle without controlling every attack. Your job is to make smart choices before the fighting starts. Think of yourself as a Pokémon coach with a wallet to protect and a few tricky decisions to make!

How to Play Kanto Tactics

Build Your Team and Find Good Combos

Every battle takes place on a checkered board. You can place sturdy Pokémon near the front to absorb attacks while keeping weaker damage dealers safely behind them. A good formation can make a huge difference, especially when enemies start using powerful abilities.

Collect three identical Pokémon to merge them into a stronger evolution. Get three copies of that upgraded version, and they combine again into a powerful third-tier unit. It's basically a Pokémon family reunion, but everyone comes back much stronger!

Pay attention to elemental types, too. Matching Pokémon can unlock useful team bonuses. Water units help regenerate skill energy, while Ground Pokémon improve physical defense. You can also equip items such as Leftovers or Choice Specs to give your favorite fighters an extra advantage.

Spend Gold Without Going Broke

Gold management is another important part of Kanto Tactics. Saving money earns interest at the end of each round, with every 10 gold providing one bonus coin. The maximum bonus is +4 in solo games and +5 in multiplayer matches.

Resist the temptation to spend everything immediately. Saving up gives you more options when stronger Pokémon appear in the shop. You can also spend gold to expand your team or refresh the available units.

Explore Different Game Modes

There is more than one way to test your team-building skills:

• Campaign: Collect eight badges and work toward becoming the regional Champion.

• Battle Tower: Climb through increasingly difficult stages and collect special blessings.

• Adventures: Explore challenging maps with unusual rules and hazards.

• Online PvP: Compete against seven other players in a multiplayer draft battle.

Controls

Kanto Tactics uses simple mouse or touchscreen controls:

• Left Click / Tap: Select and purchase Pokémon or shop options. You can also refresh the shop for 2 gold or buy a level upgrade for 4 gold.

• Drag and Drop: Move Pokémon from your bench onto the battlefield. Drag equipment onto a Pokémon to equip it.

Once your lineup is ready, the battles happen automatically. Watch how your strategy unfolds and adjust your formation before the next round.

Whether you're chasing powerful evolutions or experimenting with unusual team combinations, Kanto Tactics offers plenty of reasons to try one more round. Just remember: a strong Pokémon team needs more than muscle. Sometimes, the smartest trainer is simply the one who knows when to save their gold!
